User Ratings and Reviews

5 Stars This is great – should be shipped withthe recievers
This is great. Works seamlessly with my iPod. It should be standard with all receivers.

4 Stars Great Product
I love the fact that the iPOD can be used remotely with the remote control. With the Yamaha 665 stereo, the remote control also allows control over the TV; that’s a plus…I wasn’t expecting that. Sound is great from the Yamaha 665 stereo and Bose speakers. It is exactly what I was looking for.

4 Stars A new reason to use my ipod Classic.
This docking station has breathed new life into my ipod video classic that has been sitting in a drawer for the last year and a half, now I create playlists for parties and have the music playing that I want through out my entire house via my Yamaha RX-V665 and Definitive speakers. The unit itself is very easy to use. The only thing I’m leery about is the actual charger tongue in the dock it seems pretty fragile, just be careful when docking not to snap it off. Other than that this is a must have for me.

5 Stars yamaha ipod dock
this dock not only makes using your ipod easy, it also really allows for great sound quailty. i used to use rca connectors to one of the recivers input jacks and played through the headphone jack output on the ipod. this did not always sound as good as playing through the direct connection on my car stero. now i notice improved sound and i can control the ipod using the remote and on screen info.

5 Stars Does YDS-11 works with iPod touch V2.2.1(5H11a) connected to RX-V565?
I just purchased YDS-11 with RX-V565. The connection setup is easy, just a cable to plug in iPod and the Rx-V565. However, I’ve never got it working. The AV display says “unknown Ipod” when I press “display” button. When I press “volume Trim”, the connected TV displayed the menu for “volume Trim”, then I press “display” button, TV then displays “unknown iPod” as well. Mine is iPod Touch 2nd generation, with firmware version 2.2.1(5H11a). Has anyone get this version of iPod touch working with RX-V565? or with RX-V666, RX-V765?

Will upgrading iPod Touch firmware to V3.1 work? Has anyone got iPod Touch with version greater than 2.2.1 working with Rx-V565, RX-V665 or RX-V765?

Please share your experience if you know it can work.

========= comments after upgrading =======

This works now after I upgrade to iPod Tocuh 3.1.2. So I have changed my rating from one star to five stars. Please see comments for more info.

awsom better than my denon a very nice up gread esalty if you are in home theater like i am it is a nice up gread

5 Stars There’s nothing out there that is better than this!
I purchased this receiver a few months ago. I wanted to get used to it before writing a review. I own several stereos from various makers but this is the tops! There is all most nothing that this receiver cannot do.

It includes a very simple remote for those that are easily confused by remote controls…as well as a full feature remote that automatically lights itself when you/your hand get near it (nice in a dark room!). Want to access your RX-Z11 via your laptop? no problem – just connect the receiver to your network/laptop!

My only objection is that I do use all of the speaker connections in the back and find it a bit tough to squeeze everything into the tight connection room they give you on the back of the receiver (even when using banana plugs).

I feel that the Yamaha RX-Z11 is THE best receiver on the market bar none!

Yamaha HTR 6230BL 500 Watt 5 Channel Home Theater Receiver

This high-value AV receiver offers 1080p-compatible HDMI (2 in/1 out), iPod and Bluetooth audio compatibility, compressed music enhancer, and Cinema DSP.

User Ratings and Reviews

4 Stars Great sounding amplifier
I recommend this unit highly. It would get five stars if it was a bit less complicated. But it does so much so perhaps that is inevitable. The remote has fifty-nine buttons! So far I have used about ten. Maybe when I get around to controlling my CD player from this remote I’ll use some of the others, and need one less remote too. Currently I am using it as a stereo receiver with a Yamaha CD player, with two Polk side speakers and a Polk sub-woofer.

I am very pleased with the sound [I do not consider myself an audiophile but I do enjoy my music, classical, opera and rock mostly]. Plenty of volume, more bass available than I need but that part is easy to adjust. The room where I have this unit is 20′ by 25′ with a 12′ celing, and there’s no problem filling it with sound. Rock on!

I am impressed and consider it very good value for money too.

4 Stars Perfect system
This does everything you need. the only fault is that it is a bit bulky.

4 Stars good but not perfect :)
Ok, so like the other guy said, it works fine but the HDMI doesn’t carry sound (Which totally sucks because that is the whole point of using HDMI) so you have to use either an extra coaxial or optical cable besides the HDMI. Other than that i really like it, it’s perfect for what it costs and i love the sound.

3 Stars If you are not a geek, beware !
I bought this system, with a new Samsung 1081P TV and Samsung Blueray disk player. Am not usually adverse to technical stuff, but this was a hard one to crack. The manual is definitly not intuitive, nor the setup.

My initial mistake was to think that HDMI cable would reduce the wires behind the setup, so linked them up and : no sound. Going “straight” gave sound to the TV but no sound in the loudspeakers.

After several hrs pondering and trying to understand the manual, I was left with the choice or returning the Yamaha, or keep trying.

After about 5 attempts of 2 hrs, I was still nowhere. The loudspeakers were properly connected, (5 for surround, and 2 large High quality stereo for classical music) as after some fumbling, I got the radio to work on all speakers, but the DVD and HD satelite TV ? nothing.

In desperation I asked a young geek to come, and he sat and pondered for a good hr, and finally worked out that the HDMI did not carry the sound for this Yamaha, more fumbling we connected more cables and 30 min’s later it worked, at last.

But beware this Yamaha is not for the ordinary technical minded person.

It is definitely not intuitive and the manual not straight forward. (I use many microsoft PC programs, and have gone deep into the software features, without ever looking at a manual – just for comparison)

I still haven’t figured out how to work my Ipod (or equivalent) through the front input jack, maybe when I have more courage, I will try again later.

Conclusion: It works, but you sure have to have a lot of “geek” perseverance to get it straight and working.
